CareScout 2025 Cost of Care Survey, Connecticut results (released March 2, 2026). Monthly, hourly and daily figures are our arithmetic from CareScout's annual medians (annual / 12; home care annual / 2,288 hours = about $36 an hour; nursing home annual / 365). CareScout's Connecticut release publishes statewide medians only and does not survey memory care.
Connecticut's assisted living median fell 3% from 2024 while the national figure rose 5%, but the state still sits near the top of the ranking. CareScout's Connecticut release publishes statewide medians only, so there is no official Fairfield County figure; local quotes depend on apartment size, care level and whether care charges are bundled or billed by the ALSA separately.
What does a nursing home cost in Connecticut?
Connecticut's 2025 nursing home medians are $182,500 a year for a semi-private room (about $500 a day) and $200,750 for a private room (about $550 a day), the second-highest private-room median in the country.
Fairfield County homes report their own private-pay rates to DPH each year, and the county median private-room rate in the latest registry is $616 a day. Those rates are what a resident paying privately is charged; Medicare and HUSKY C pay their own rates. See every home's reported rate.
What does home care cost compared with assisted living?
At Connecticut's 2025 median of $82,368 a year for 44 hours a week, a non-medical caregiver costs about $36 an hour, so home care stays cheaper than the assisted living median up to roughly 55 hours of paid help a week.
| Paid hours per week | Monthly home care at $36/hour | Versus assisted living median ($8,676) |
|---|---|---|
| 10 | $1,560 | less |
| 20 | $3,120 | less |
| 30 | $4,680 | less |
| 40 | $6,240 | less |
| 44 | $6,864 | less |
| 56 | $8,736 | more |
| 70 | $10,920 | more |
| 84 | $13,104 | more |
| 168 | $26,208 | more |
The comparison changes fast once help is needed at night. Overnight or live-in care at hourly rates costs more than assisted living, and twenty-four-hour shift care costs more than a private nursing home room. Adult day health care, at a Connecticut median of $28,340 a year for five days a week, can stretch a home care budget by covering the workday.
Why is there no Fairfield County or memory care price?
CareScout's Connecticut release publishes statewide medians only and does not survey memory care as its own category, so any Fairfield County assisted living or memory care “average” you see quoted is an estimate, not a published statistic.
We do not publish estimates. The two real local numbers that exist are DPH's facility-reported nursing home rates and the quotes communities give you in writing. Ask every community for its rate sheet, its care-level pricing and its increase history.
