CareScout 2025 Cost of Care Survey, Connecticut results (released March 2, 2026). Monthly, hourly and daily figures are our arithmetic from CareScout's annual medians (annual / 12; home care annual / 2,288 hours = about $36 an hour; nursing home annual / 365). CareScout's Connecticut release publishes statewide medians only and does not survey memory care.

What do Fairfield County nursing homes actually charge?

The nursing homes in DPH's registry reported a median private-room rate of $616 a day and a median semi-private rate of $560, which works out to roughly $18,700 and $17,000 a month.

Every facility's reported rate is on the daily rates page.

Who pays for senior care in Connecticut?

Most families pay privately at first; Medicare covers only short skilled stays, home health and hospice; HUSKY C (Connecticut Medicaid) pays for long-term nursing home care; the Connecticut Home Care Program for Elders pays for care at home and for assisted living services, but not rent; and VA pension with Aid and Attendance helps eligible veterans and survivors.

The fact that surprises families most is the housing gap in assisted living: public programs can pay the assisted living services agency for care, but the managed residential community's rent and meals must come from the resident's own income.
