Why does the roster list agencies rather than buildings?
Because Connecticut licenses the assisted living services agency, not the managed residential community it works in; the license name is sometimes the community's name and sometimes a corporate name, and a community can change agencies.
That is also why a recently issued license often marks a new operator rather than a new building: 24 of the active licenses sit at an address where DPH has recorded an earlier ALSA license, shown in the “earlier licenses” column. Each license has its own page with its record, nearby alternatives and questions to ask.
Does the roster show which communities offer memory care?
No, because Connecticut does not publish its list of approved dementia special care units; any community claiming memory care should be able to show you its written dementia care disclosure and the staffing plan it filed with DPH.
