A residential care home provides a room, meals, supervision and help with medications for people who do not need nursing care. Connecticut's license export does not include bed counts for these homes, so ask each one how many residents it is licensed for.
How is a residential care home different from assisted living in Connecticut?
A residential care home is itself the licensed facility and its own staff provide care, while in assisted living the apartment building is a managed residential community and the care comes from a separately licensed assisted living services agency.

How do I check a residential care home's record?
Look up the license number in Connecticut's eLicense system to confirm status and expiration, ask the home for its most recent DPH inspection results, and call the Long-Term Care Ombudsman at 1-866-388-1888, which also serves residential care home residents.
DPH posts only a short list of facility consent orders online; routine inspection findings for residential care homes are not published in bulk, which makes the questions you ask in person more important than for nursing homes.
